Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest
Kindergarten through third graders are invited to write and illustrate original books for entry in the 15th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest.The Reading Rainbow Contest encourages, challenges, and recognizes children who share stories they create with their own words and pictures. Above all, the Reading Rainbow Contest is meant to be fun for children and to offer a chance to be recognized for their creative efforts.

Youth Poetry Contest 2009
Pima County Public Library and Tucson Youth Week 2009 are hosting a youth poetry contest, February 8-March 21, 2009. Youth poets living within Pima County are invited to write poems on the topic of Celebrating Change! Four winners will be chosen, one from each of the following categories: Kindergarten to grade 2; grades 3 to grade 5; grades 6 to grade 8; and high school. Winners will participate in the Tucson Youth Week Community Recognition Event April 25.

An after-school and summer recreation program for children ages 5-11, in kindergarten through fifth grade. (Some centers accept 12-year-olds or in sixth grade.) A safe, comfortable place for children to be after school and during the summer. An opportunity for kids to express themselves through various art forms, sports and special events.
A place to practice physical fitness, experience healthy alternatives and learn respect for the body. An environment that helps promote self-esteem, encourages listening and caring and where positive values are reinforced. An opportunity to develop varied interests, to practice recreational skills and to experience positive use of leisure time.
A time for friendships and socializing. KIDCO registration is handled through Registration Services on a space available basis during the summer and fall (school year) sessions.
